Marium Nur Vahed is a Muslim South Asian-Canadian writer, filmmaker, and community leader. In 2024, she directed, wrote, and produced her short film Kya Poem.
She is Co-Founder of Green Ummah, a non-profit that engages Canadian Muslims in the environmental movement and led Story in a short documentary on this work. Through her writing, she has driven the conversation forward on diverse issues including the environment, equity, diversity and inclusion, mental health, and civic engagement. Marium’s passion is telling character-driven stories rooted in community, identity, and social change, in worlds enhanced by the magical and surreal.
